It is set in the Vale Do Vau, noted as one of the most picturesque courses in the Western Algarve, beautifully landscaped and many parts of the course have stunning views out to sea. There are also plenty of other great golf courses to play within easy distance including Gramacho, Pinta, Boavista and Penina.

On a clear day the Portuguese capital can easily be seen from the first tee.
The first Aroeira Golf Course was designed by Frank Pennick and he has skilfully blended the needs of a championship golf course and the harmonious surroundings of natural landscape. The course runs through a pine wood sprinkled with wild flowers, a genuine nature park where many kinds of birds live. The English press named this the "Wentworth of Lisbon", and went on to describe the similarities between Aroeira and the famous London club.
The second 18 hole course, Aroeira II was opened in 2000. Its architect, Donald Steel, wanted to design a course that would meet the recommendations of the European Tour that could be used for future Portuguese Opens. Boavista Golf Course will challenge all levels of golfers, with its 360 degree breathtaking views you can't fail to be impressed. It opened in 2002, designed by Howard Swan MSc, past president of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects. His philosophy of creating a course as if it has always been there, has been sensitively applied at Boavista, preserving, integrating and harmonising with the area's natural terrain. If this is not enough there are many other top quality golf courses in the area.
Bom Sucesso Golf Resort was designed by world renowned golf architect Donald Steel and opened for play in 2008. The course was designed to replicate some of the old classic courses and has incorporated lots of randomness surrounding the greens in order to make them appear similar to the courses created in the earlier part of the century.
The front 9 holes are played on a level terrain whilst the back 9 are more uneven, giving plenty of spectacular views on your way round. The design technique of Nick Price and Ronald Fream on the Gramacho course has meant positioning the greens and protective bunkers so that an 18 hole round is a genuine challenge. The positioning of the tee markers helps to increase this variety still further. As in the case of the Pinta Course, this course is maintained at tournament standard all the year round.
Silves is a serene spot, but the course is anything but the proverbial walk in the park. The excellent condition, all year round, is ideal for low scoring. A relentless test in precision, this course has no peers. It is the “archetype” of man-sized parkland golf.
